The OSM unveils Nagano’s final Season as Music Director
The OSM will present over 100 concerts anchored in the tradition of the greatest orchestras to mark Kent Nagano’s final season as Music Director of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal.
Programmes will include masterpieces by Bach, Mahler, Schubert, De Falla as well as appearances from renowned guests to celebrate Nagano’s 16 years with the orchestra.
18/19 season began with an OSM tour into the arctic region of Nunavik in Northern Quebec– homeland of the Inuit, ten years following the orchestra’s first visit to the region. The musicians of the OSM and their music director returned to the region, tracing a path from the arctic down through Quebec’s interior toward the Côte-Nord to give concerts of specially commissioned works. Forthcoming highlights include a European tour this month. Beginning in Dusseldorf, the orchestra will give concerts in Hamburg, Essen, Vienna, Paris, Brussels, Munich, Regensburg and Berlin, with soloists Rafal Blechacz, piano and Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
