Three awards for Kent Nagano and the OSM
The Conseil québécois de la musique has awarded the Prix Opus to Kent Nagano and the OSM in three categories. The ceremony took place at the Salle Bourgie during the 20th edition of the gala on Friday 5th February, 2017 and honoured the orchestra for their efforts in the 15/16 season. In total the orchestra received seven nominations for their work and has been presented with prizes in the following categories:
‘Record of the Year- Modern and Contemporary Music’ for their disc, L’Aiglon featuring works by Honegger & Ibert released on Decca Classics in March 2016.
‘Record of the Year – Classical, Romantic, Postromantic and Impressionist music’ for the recording Integrale des concertos pour violin de Saint-Saëns, released on ANALEKTA in October 2015 featuring the complete violin concertos of Saint-Saëns.
‘Production of the Year – Young public’ for Les Bal des enfants – L’aventure espagnole de Don Quichotte, premiered on 27 February 2016. In addition to the Opus award, the team have also been bestowed $5,000 by The Quebec Minister of Culture and Communications for this production.
