Kent Nagano in Zurich + Elbphilharmonie opening

Conductor Kent Nagano begins the new year with concerts in Zurich and with the opening concert of the Philharmonic State Orchestra in the new Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg:

On 7th and 8th January Maestro Nagano will stand at the rostrum of Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich, conducting works by Beethoven and Messiaen with the pianist Daniil Trifonov. Find more information on the concerts here.

Only a few days later, on 13th January, 2017 Kent Nagano and the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg will give their first concert in the new Elbphilharmonie on the occasion of the opening festivities. Maestro Nagano has assigned composing a piece for this special occasion to Jörg Widmann: “ARCHE”, a large scale piece for vocal soloists, organ, choirs and orchestra.

Next month, Kent will conduct the premiere of Alban Berg’s opera Lulu staged by Christoph Marthaler at the Hamburg State Opera.
