Kent Nagano in Zurich + Elbphilharmonie opening

Conductor Kent Nagano starts the new year 2017 with concerts in Zurich and with the very first concert of the Philharmonic State Orchestra in the new Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg:

On 7 and 8 January he will stand at the rostrum of Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich, conducting works by Beethoven and Messiaen. Soloist will be the pianist Daniil Trifonov. Find more information on the concerts here.

Only a few days later, on 13 January 2017 Kent Nagano and the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg will give their first concert in the Elbphilharmonie on the occasion of the opening festivities. Kent Nagano has assigned composing a piece for this special occasion to Jörg Widmann: “ARCHE”, a large scale piece for vocal soloists, organ, choirs and orchestra.
The concert will be broadcast live at 20:00 on German radio channel NDR Kultur.

In February 2017 Kent Nagano will conduct the premiere of Alban Berg’s opera Lulu staged by Christoph Marthaler at the Hamburg State Opera.
