Kent Nagano begins his tenure as music director of the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España (September 2026)

Kent Nagano’s tenure as music director of the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España begins this month. He starts his first season with a concert on September 18, which includes Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 and the world premiere of Mikel Urquiza’s Requiem—a work commissioned by the OCNE—featuring Jane Archibald and Christina Bock as soloists. Further concerts with this program happen on September 19 and 20. This will be followed shortly thereafter by the Second project, featuring Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor with Veronika Eberle as soloist, Nuria Giménez-Comas’s Nostalgia of the Light, Yearning for..., and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major.
